The Request for Transfer Template Maintenance function enables you to set up payment templates for beneficiaries you pay on a regular basis.

Add a Request for Transfer Template
Add a new template
Navigate to Payments and select Requests for Transfer in the sub-menu, then choose the Manage Templates tab. On that page, click the “Add Template” button located near the upper right and you will be taken to the Create a Request for Transfer Template page.
- Enter a Template ID that will enable you to easily identify the template.
- Enter a template description.
- Order information required includes the Execution Date, which is the date the Ordering Customers account will be debited. The field defaults to the current date and using the calendar field you can change it up to 30 days in the future. You may also enter the debit account.
- Payment details you may opt to save for later include Payment Amount, Currency, Debit Charges to fields, and Treatment of Charges as explained:
BEN – Covered by the beneficiary
OUR – Covered by the ordering customer
SHA – Covered by the beneficiary except the servicing bank charges
- Beneficiary information required includes the Beneficiary Name and Beneficiary Address.
- For the beneficiary bank information, you may enter the Beneficiary Account number. And you may perform a “Search”
- Click on the “Search” button by the Beneficiary Bank label. You’ll be on a separate page to fill in the details you know.
- Enter at least the first two characters of the Bank Name.

Select a Bank ID Type (ABA, BIC, CPA Bank/Transit or SWIFT) from the drop-down list and enter a corresponding code to search for. - Click on the “Search” button, then the results will populate back on this form for you.
- You may choose to enter the following Optional Information:
Information to Beneficiary –
This optional information may be used to enter transaction details intended for the beneficiary customer. You may enter up to four lines of 35 characters.Regulatory Reporting –
This optional information can contain the values for the statutory and/or regulatory information required by the authorities in the country of the Receiver or Sender/Originating Customer.Note: We will advise you if and when any information is required for the locations you are sending payments to.
Instructions –
This is an optional field and will only be used as directed by a recipient depending upon acceptance or non-acceptance by the executing bank. For example, one of the available options calls for payment to be made by cheque rather than by wire. Depending on the executing bank, they may or may not support such payments. For details on the various options available, refer to instruction codes below.Internal Memo –
This field is for your internal use only. Information that is entered will not be sent with the payment, but will be displayed on transaction reports and included when you download your wire payment transactions. - Address information displays automatically:
- Ordering Customer displays the account owner ordering movement of funds from their account. This field will automatically be populated based on the debit account you have selected.
- Account with specifies the financial institution where the debit account is held. This field will automatically be populated based on the debit account selected.
- When complete, click the red “Save” button. If all required information was entered correctly, you will be returned to the Manage Templates tab, see a ‘Creation Successful’ message and your new template will be in the list of templates. You may now use your template to create Requests for Transfer from Templates.
Swift character criteria
Note: The following characters should not be used when entering payment instructions:
+ & * # @ ; ! $ % ^ _ = : < > { } [ ] \
These are invalid SWIFT characters and if they are entered, an error message will be returned.
Request for transfer instruction codes
The following codes may be selected in the Optional Information section to provide further instruction.
CHQB: This transaction requests that the beneficiary be paid via the issuance of a cheque.
CORT: This transaction is a payment that is made in settlement of a trade (e.g. foreign exchange deal, securities transaction).
INTC: This transaction is for an intra-company payment (e.g. a payment between two companies belonging to the same group).
NETS: This payment should be settled via a net settlement system if available.
RTGS: This payment should be settled via a real-time gross settlement system if available.
URGP: This is a time-sensitive payment that should be executed in an expeditious manner.
PHON: This transaction requires that the beneficiary be contacted by telephone. An appropriate telephone number must be included in the sub-field. This instruction is meant for the last financial institution in the chain.
OTHR: Used for bilaterally agreed codes/information. The actual bilateral code/information must be specified in the second sub-field. The following codes may follow: ‘DMST’ for domestic and ‘INTL’ for international.
Please note, the following combinations are not allowed:
- CHQB with URGP
- CHQB with RTGS
- CHQB with NETS
- CHQB with PHON
- NETS with RTGS
