Payments Search

This section allows you to search and view details of all types of payments and remittance advices.

Payment Search gives you flexibility to filter your searches and capture your results in a report or file export. You can create the following types of reports:

  • Transaction Details report displays details of payments and stand-alone remittance advices.
  • Daily Activity report displays any user-initiated activities for payments and stand-alone remittance advices matching selected search criteria.
  • Daily Settlement report displays payments and stand-alone remittance advices matching selected settlement date criteria.
  • Payment Reconciliation report displays information on pending and past transactions.
  • Summary report displays an overview of all wire payment transactions.

Actions on this Page

You can take the following actions from this page:

  • Export allows you to export (view or save) payment activity reports (in your choice of format) based on selected search filters.
  • Report allows you to view or save payment activity reports based on selected search filters.
  • View Details allows you to view full payment details for selected transactions.
  • Search allows you to filter for payments based on your search criteria.
  • Reset clears the search criteria and resets it to your default settings.

Steps to Follow

  1. Set-up your search filters, sort criteria and click Search.
  2. Your results will display on the lower portion of the screen, sorted by date (default) or by the sort criteria you’ve selected.
  3. You can view details of a payment, export payment activity, and create reports based on your search results:
    • View Details: Click the payment you’d like to view and a new screen displays with full payment details. Depending on the status of the payment you may be able to further action it.
    • Export: Adjust the Export Information setting to view or save payment activity reports and click Export. See the Export Information section below for more details on this function.
    • Report: Once you’ve refined your search results you can create a report based on those specific results by clicking Report.

Definition of Search Filters

  • Report Type lists the types of reports available.
  • Payment Type allows you to search for payments in any of your subscribed Payment Services.
  • Status allows you to select the status of the payments to search.
  • Account lists the accounts available to you, based on your access privileges. For EFT, EDI and ACH payments, you’ll see Settlement Accounts. For wire payments, you’ll see Debit Accounts.
  • Service Group lists the existing active and inactive service groups available to you based on access privileges.
  • Recipient Name allows you to search for a specific recipient by entering at least one character of their name.
  • Vendor Number is the identifying number for the vendor of the payment or of the associated payment of stand-alone remittance advices.
  • Amount can be entered in $9,999.99, 9,999.99, or 9999.99 formats. Use the first field to enter a single amount or use both fields to enter an amount range.
  • Date can be searched by a variety of parameters, depending on the specific payment type. Once you choose a date search parameter, you can also filter by date occurrence (current day, prior day, current week, last week, current month, last month, or date range). Use the calendar widget to select the appropriate date(s).
  • Batch ID is a number to identify batch payments. The system will search for any matching Batch IDs that start with entered value.
  • Payment/Cross Reference Number is the system-generated number to uniquely identify a payment. Wire payments are assigned a Reference Number, EFT payments are assigned a Cross Reference Number. EDI and ACH payments are assigned a Payment Number. This identifier can be searched if at least one character is entered.
  • File ID is a number to identify a file for batch payments. The system will search for any matching File IDs that start with the value entered.
  • Originator Reference Number is a number assigned to batch payments uploaded to ScotiaConnect. This identifier can be searched if at least one character is entered.
  • Recipient Account is the account of the recipient or of the associated payment of stand-alone remittance advices. The system will search for any matching Recipient Accounts that start with the value entered.
  • Payments with Notice of Change is a search criteria applied to all payment types except Wire Payments.
  • Payments with Attached RA is a search for payments with or without remittance advices.

Sort Order

The default display order of search results is by date. You can also set up to 3 search filters and sort the results in ascending or descending order.

Export Information section

Once you’ve refined your search results, you can download the results as a report. This section outlines your export options.

Definition of Export Options:

  • Export Format lists the type of export formats available (comma separated values, Excel, fixed length text, tab-separated text).
  • Include Headings allows you to include column headings in your reports.
  • Date Format allows you to pick a custom date format, a short date format, or a longer date format.

Definition of Search Results Column Headers

  • Date will display based on payment type:
    • EFT, EDI and ACH payments use the term Settlement Date.
    • Wire payments use the term Value Date.
  • Recipient column displays the recipient names for each payment.
  • Payment Type lists the type of payment.
  • RA indicates if a payment has an attached remittance advice.
  • Payment / Cross Reference will display based on payment type:
    • EFT Payments use the term Cross Reference Number.
    • EDI and ACH Payments use the term Payment Number.
    • Wire Payments use the term Reference Number.
  • Account will display based on payment type:
    • EFT, EDI and ACH payments use the term Settlement Account
    • Wire Payments use the term Debit Account.
  • Amount shows the amount of each payment.
  • Currency shows the selected currency for each payment.
  • Dr/Cr shows if a payment is made from a debit account (Dr) or a credit account (Cr).
  • Service Group shows the name of the service group related to each payment.
  • Status displays the status of each payment. For more details, see the Payment Status Reference Table below.
  • Track Now lets you track a “gpi” wire payment as it is sent from you to your recipient:
    • Click Track Now to see the Tracking Details of the specific gpi wire payment.
    • gpi wire payments are wire payments that can be tracked through SWIFT gpi (global payment innovation) initiative using the Unique End to End Reference number (UETR).
    • A gpi bank is a financial institution that has subscribed to the SWIFT gpi initiative.
    • A non-gpi bank is a financial institution that has not subscribed to the SWIFT gpi initiative.

Notes

Future-dated status wire payments can only be viewed from the Payments Search area and will not display in Pending Search Results.

Payment Status Reference Table

Accepted

The payment has been successfully validated and processed.

Approved 1

The payment has received one approval but requires further approvals.

Approved 2

The payment has received two approvals but requires further approval.

Cancelled

The future dated payment has been cancelled by the user and can no longer be sent for processing.

Completed

The payment has been fully processed.

Deleted

The payment has been entered and then subsequently deleted without having been submitted for processing.

Disabled

The payment has been disabled by a user.

Entered

The payment has been entered and must be approved before it can be sent for processing.

Failed

The payment has been rejected during an initial payment validation. An error message will be displayed advising the user why the payment failed.

Future-Dated

The payment has been sent for processing, but the execution date is a future date and will be stored in ScotiaConnect until the value date.

Pending

Payments are pending if they have one of the following statuses:

  • Entered
  • Approved
  • Approved 2
  • Ready
  • Disabled
  • Failed

Processing

The payment has been submitted, but it has not yet been processed.

Ready

The payment is ready to be submitted for processing.

Recall Accepted

The EFT recall has been processed.

Recall In Progress

The EFT recall has been submitted, but it has not yet been processed.

Recall Rejected

The EFT recall failed processing.

Rejected

Payment has failed the processing validation and will not be processed.

Reversal Accepted

The EFT reversal has been processed.

Reversal In Progress

The EFT reversal has been submitted, but has not yet been processed.

Reversal Rejected

The EFT reversal failed processing.

Reversal Returned

The EFT reversal was processed, but it could not be posted to the recipient’s account.

Submitted

The payment has been released for processing.
